On the crisp evening of Friday, August 4th, 2023, the Lecture Hall of room 1410 at Vishwakarma Institute Of Technology bore witness to an Intellectual Odyssey of Cosmic Proportions. A luminary among the Antariksh - Astronomy Club 's members, Chanchal Rathad, took the stage to present a captivating talk on the subject of "Introduction to Sky and Astronomy." The room was a cocoon of anticipation, cradling a diverse group of 17 enthusiastic volunteers, united by their passion for exploring the mysteries of the universe.
As the journey through the cosmos began to unfold, it was evident that the Antariksh Club was not venturing into the unknown alone. The guiding hand of mentor Jameer Manur, a beacon of knowledge from IUCAA, Pune, India, illuminated their path from the inception of this endeavor. The talk became a testament to the power of mentorship, as Sir's support and wisdom were woven seamlessly into every narrative thread.
In the Cosmic Symphony orchestrated by the Antariksh - Astronomy Club , the notes of gratitude harmonized beautifully with the overarching theme of exploration. Dr. Shripad Bhatlawande Sir and Dr.Shital Raut Madam, the faculty advisors, emerged as true pioneers, nurturing the growth of the club with their unwavering commitment and providing the essential values and resources that kindled the flames of curiosity.
A Celestial Overture: Decoding the Sky and Beyond:
Chanchal's presentation traversed the celestial landscape, unraveling the mysteries of the night sky and the boundless expanse of astronomy. Attendees embarked on a spellbinding journey, beginning with the very fabric of the universe—the Big Bang—and venturing into the enigmatic domain of Black Holes. Each cosmic revelation was a brushstroke in an ever-expanding canvas, painting a vivid picture of our place in the cosmos.
Cosmic Alphabets and Timeless Rhythms:
The night sky, often seen as an impenetrable veil of darkness, was transformed into a language of constellations, revealing its secrets to eager listeners. Attendees were captivated by the exploration of the 88 constellations, unlocking their role in predicting seasonal changes and witnessing the celestial ballet that accompanied the shift of the Pole Star.
Stellar Performers: Galaxies, Nebulae, and Supernovae:
The cosmic narrative delved into the mesmerizing choreography of galaxies, nebulae, clusters, and supernovae, each celestial entity performing its unique dance in the grand cosmic theater. Attendees were left awestruck by the intricate interplay of these celestial performers, a mesmerizing spectacle that underscored the universe's dynamic and ever-evolving nature.
Saraswati Supercluster: A Cosmic Reverie:
Perhaps the most poignant moment of the talk was the unveiling of the Saraswati Supercluster—an epitome of cosmic grandeur. Situated a staggering 4 billion light-years away, within the Pieces Constellation, the supercluster's name echoed the enigmatic aura of the ancient river "Saraswati." Just as the river's history remains shrouded in mystery, so too does the supercluster invite us to peer into the depths of the unknown.
Important Fact: “Saraswati Supercluster” was discovered by Joydeep Bagchi and Research collegues from “IUCAA, Pune, India and IISER.”
A Glimpse Through Temporal Telescopes: Ancient and Modern Astronomy:
The talk gracefully wove together the threads of time, juxtaposing ancient observatories and the celestial wisdom of civilizations with modern advancements in observational techniques. Attendees were transported through the annals of history, tracing the footsteps of ancient astronomers while also gazing through the temporal telescopes of modernity.
Questions:
1. How was Saraswati Supercluster found? (attended by Jameer Manur Sir)
2. Saraswati Supercluster, how did it get it’s name (attended by Jameer Manur Sir and Chanchal Rathad)
3. Does it mean we are looking at the past of Saraswati Supercluster?? (attended by Jameer Manur Sir and Sahil Sawant)
